There are moments each day when I am struck by the beauty and wonder of the natural world around me. Whether a landscape, a city scene, a child at play or a simple still life, the effect of light and color on atmosphere or object is a source of endless joy and fascination for me. Capturing these impressions on canvas has become a passion and putting brush to canvas everyday is an adventure. My goal as an artist is to evoke an emotional response from the viewer by means of fresh and spontaneous brushstroke, light and color. I grew up in Wisconsin near Lake Michigan, but have lived in the southeast for the past twenty-five years, the last eighteen in Charlotte, NC. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and a former teacher, my study of painting includes classes taken at Queens University of Charlotte, Central Piedmont Community College, extensive study with nationally acclaimed artist Andy Braitman and a variety of workshops.
